How We Earn Revenue

Some of the links on The Off Grid Outpost are affiliate links. When you purchase equipment through these links, we earn a commission from the retailer at no additional cost to you. These commissions help us keep our AI solar planner free for all homeowners.

Our current affiliate partnerships include:

  • Signature Solar — 9% commission on equipment purchases. Our primary partner for EG4 inverters, batteries, and balance-of-system components.
  • EcoFlow — 5% commission through CJ Affiliate. Recommended for portable battery solutions.
  • Current Connected — 7% commission. Recommended for premium panels (Silfab, REC).

How Affiliate Partnerships Affect Our Recommendations

Our equipment recommendations are driven by product quality, pricing, and customer value — not commission rates. We regularly recommend products and approaches that generate zero affiliate revenue for us, including buying used equipment, sourcing from local distributors, or choosing products from manufacturers we don't have affiliate relationships with.

If an affiliate partner's product is not the best choice for your situation, we will say so. Our credibility depends on honest recommendations — losing a reader's trust costs us far more than any single commission.

What We Do NOT Do
