Inverters
The inverter is the brain of a solar system — it turns DC from the panels into AC for your house, decides what to do with excess production, and (in hybrid topologies) manages the battery. We list string, hybrid, microinverter, and off-grid inverters with their full electrical envelope: continuous output, surge headroom, MPPT count, battery compatibility, transfer time.
For a grid-tied DIY install the choice is mostly between a string inverter (cheap, simple, no battery) and a hybrid (more expensive, future-proof for batteries). For whole-home backup or off-grid, you want a hybrid with at least 12kW continuous, 3+ MPPT channels, and a sub-20ms transfer time.
